As a child, I was teased and bullied for being overweight, putting me at the center of many physical altercations. I always wanted to have an edge in these situations, yet I never had the fighting knowledge and skill set that I needed. My physical and mental prowess had also been hindered by my lack of self esteem. That all changed in 1990, when I purchased a membership at local karate dojo from a high school acquaintance.

My starting point was tough; I was well over 300 pounds. As an overweight person, I was able to develop and enhance many of my attributes and perform at a high level. Yet, I yearned for more self-enhancement and skill development.

After a period of disgust and disdain for being overweight, I became motivated to put my foot down and focus. I took the initiative to see and work with an accredited NASM Certified Professional Trainer and put a game plan together that involved diet and exercise to increase muscle mass while losing fat.

The work paid off. I went from 308 pounds to a weight of 208 pounds in approximately one year.

Professional Quest

Coach Ilyadis’ transformation was a crucial turning point in his life. It paved the way for his career in fitness, martial arts, and athletic training.

Now an accomplished trainer and martial artist, he has been sharing his passion for fitness and athletic success for over 20 years. He has trained numerous athletes to hone their skills, improve their quality of life, strengthen their will to succeed, and ultimately achieve their athletic and long-term fitness goals.

He has trained under and earned certifications from some of the world’s highest ranked martial arts instructors, including first and second-generation Bruce Lee students Sifu Jerry Poteet and Sifu Lamar Davis II as well as UFC Coaches “Judo” Gene Lebell and Gokor Chivichiyian.

Coach Ilyadis has also trained under Nick Tumenello, a world renowned fitness coach, who has been labeled trainer of trainers by leading industry experts. Under his tutelage, Coach Ilyadis strengthened his ideals of honoring scientific values and providing simple practical solutions to real world issues to help enhance and better all of his clients.

I always strive to learn more about my disciplines in martial arts and personal training. I am a firm believer in training with the best of the best when it comes to learning. I pride myself on delivering specific results through a variety of methods and constantly improving the practicality of my training.

In 2004, he took his certifications to the next level by opening the Jeet Kune Do Self-Defense Training Center in Clifton Park, NY. Here he trained a wide array of individuals varying in age and athletic backgrounds. His students not only became more confident they also improved and built upon their various athletic attributes.

 

My study of martial arts previously focused on self defense and combative sports. As I have grown older and wiser, I have to began to study the healing aspects of martial arts like Tai Chi and Qi Gong, which I have incorporated in my training programs.

My unique mix of training is based on enhancing individuals of all backgrounds. I have trained people as young and 5 and as old as 80, people with no athletic background to professional-level athletes, and everything in between.

 

As an athletic trainer and fitness coach, he offers a unique mental and physical approach to personal training. He provides athletes and individuals with tailored programs to help them excel at their sport and take their game above the competition. From sports psychology, to speed/agility, and injury prevention, he has experience in training individuals from a variety of backgrounds and athletic abilities, helping them improve speed, increase agility and explosive power.
